The Banquet
The awards banquet will take place on Monday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at Paradise Cove. Biographical stories of Deems and Wolf will be presented and they may even be lightly “roasted.” The banquet will also double as a chamber installation.

Bob is well-known as the man who oversees the Meals on Wheels program here in the Kern River Valley, ensuring the Senior Center receives grant money so that the program can continue to send out free meals to those in need.

Wolf, 82, was born in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and later worked at Douglas Aircraft in the Los Angeles area. After retirement he and his wife, Betty, moved to the Kern River Valley and bought a home in Mt. Mesa. Bob’s hobbies are fishing, waterskiing and computers.

Bob has received many awards over the years, such as for putting in over 1,000 hours of volunteer work each year.

Judy’s murals can be seen all over the valley. She is well-known as an artist. She donates her artwork for local events and fundraisers including Whiskey Flat Days. She has donated painting at the Cowboy Memorial Museum in Walker Basin and recently painted murals on the walls at Kern Valley Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility in Mt. Mesa, depicting scenes of the beach, forest and woods.

Judy has received numerous awards and commendations for her artwork at shows and fairs, but she says her true reward comes when she sees the smiles on people’s faces when they view her artwork.
