Dear Kern River Courier,
I would like to thank all of the people and businesses in the valley that supported me towards my volunteer work in South Africa. As a volunteer I will be working side by side with local people, infants, children, and assisting in the hospitals.  I will have a chance to give back a bit of what life as given me. Departing May 8, 2008. Thanks again for the support.

Dear Kern River Courier,
Congratulations to Star Fleet, who has been designated a finalist in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, otherwise known as the PSAT.  Star scored in the top 3% of the 1.5 million college-bound junior students who took the test in November.  Star now has the opportunity to compete in a substantial scholarship program which offers about 8,200 awards to be offered in 2009.

(This is a letter that was sent to Tina Terrell, Sequoia National Forest Supervisor.)
Dear Tina:
On behalf of the Kernville Chamber of Commerce, I would like to thank you for the U.S. Forest Service – Sequoia section for their participation in helping to put the Cyrus Canyon motorcycle track back in operation.  Without your help, since you have been given the job of managing this project, we would not have been able to continue holding events at this site.

This last weekend was a testament to the parternering that can happen in a community like the Kern River Valley.  With this event, we saw much needed economic rebirth that can happen many times over in the course of the year at this venue.

Thank you to Brenda Ehmann, Cindy Thill, Artie Colson and especially Bob Frenes, who ran the volunteer unit from the community.  Volunteers are what makes this community come together.

Each one did their part to make sure the process continued and are doing what needs to be done to complete the project.  I know Joe and Georgia Lupercio had to be beaming at the sight of motorcycles racing at the track once more.

So, I thank you for hanging in there with us to get what seemed an insurmountable job started.

Cheryl Borthick
President, Kernville Chamber of Commerce

Dear Kern River Courier,
On behalf of myself and the Kern River Valley Art Association Tour Committee, I would like to thank the Courier for their support of our Open Studio and Gallery Tour.  To Mike Devich, Courier co-owner, for his timely articles on April 18 and 25. To Donna Fitch for her Creative Connection article. And to Michael Batelaan, Courier co-owner, for the Tour Book design work.

We all enjoy picking up the Courier from our local stops but how about (getting) a subscription? As I have. Your support of this great local paper will insure all of us that the support we have received will continue for other activities of this grea valley.

Past president, Kern River Valley Art Association
