Christmas lights are beginning to illiuminate the valley’s sky, and ornaments are filling windows and walls.

The fresh smell of Christmas trees is coming this weekend to the annual Future Famers of America’s fundraiser sale in the parking next to Crossroads Shell in Lake Isabella.

Businesses are starting to put up holiday decorations outside their businesses as the season comes into full swing.

In Kernville, Santa’s Village is being worked on in preparation for Saturday’s big Christmas Parade of Giving, after which Santa will be delivered to his headquarters in Circle Park to visit with the children.

Festivities start in late afternoon, about 4 p.m.

On Friday, Circle Park will be the scene of the annual Candle Stroll, during which the Sweet Adelines will lead caroling. Come around sundown, about 5 p.m.

The same day there will be a non-denominational Christmas singalong at the Grace Chapel in Mt. Mesa from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Grace Chapel is at 12312 Mt. Mesa Road.

Rain is forecast for Friday and possibly Saturday, so dress warmly.
